    Bressonnet (Etudes tactiques 1806)

    Hallo,

Sorry to bother with english, but unfortunately cannot write german.
I'd be very interested in reading the Bressonnet's Etudes as I'm developing a computer simulation on the Battle of Auerstadt but cannot find any available copy here in Italy.
I hope someone here can help as if I've understood well a pdf downloadable copy will be available soon.
Furthermore any online or printed material dealing with the twin battles of Jena-Auerstadt are kindly welcome. I'm particulary looking at pieces showing the prussian tactiques and grand-tactiques of the 1806 campaign. If anybody can help please write to leporello68@yahoo.it
            Thanks a lot.

As I understand Scott Bowden is working on a translation on that work, like he did with the Journal de 3e corps, as for Prussian tactics the very best on this topic are the two books of Jany for infantry and cavalry tactics of 1806, you must be able to read German however.

                Bressonnet

@Desaix: I hope you understand my words (it takes some more time to get a copy of it) but I'm really interested in your project - on what platform are you realising the virtual Auerstädt battle? Is it Flash? I also have plans to publish simulations with the extraordinary powerful Flash engine ... so, to combine our efforts, I'd concentrate on Jena - and for learning: my first project will be Schleiz (I hope to publish it in summer 2007). Perhaps you've seen my portal of the 1806/07-campaign at http://www.1806-1807.napoleon-online.com/ ... there you find a lot of intersting documents and pictures as well as battle plans - and next to come: an "interactive" battle map of Auerstädt like that published for Saalfeld (see http://www.1806-1807.napoleon-online...d=22&Itemid=42)

                Ciao

                  Hi Markus,
thanks for your fast and enlighting reply to my question.
My project deals with developing a tactical engine of napoleonic warfare under windows platform. It is quite detailed with 3D rendering of battlefield and 2D rendering of soldiers, with company (zug) as operative unit (squadron/cannon for cavalry/artillery) and battalion as commanding unit.
I'm currently working on AI movement having finished graphics and map.
Just to have an idea of what looks like:

Uniforms are all the same of french line infantry for debug speed, but flags are correct

I must admit I i've been ignoring your site since yesterday but now reading eagerly the many notes and reports included there even though my german is less than basic and I must abuse of google translator.
If I can contribute in any way with the translation process and cost of Bressonnet's work just write me an email.
                  Ciao
                  Riccardo

                    Riccardo,

nice animations. Do you know the French regulations for infantry of 1791 ?

                    Good continuation with your work,

                    Oliver

Very interesting. It' surprising how many online literature i've been missing pertinent with my work. I'll try to locate the translation even though i'm quite confident in french.
                      Thank you Sans-souci
