    Albrecht Adam and Moreau's army?

Back in 2021 a certain HKDW gave me a note- "in case you are interested there is a book by Albrecht Adam about Moreau's army, he made scetches and drawings as a 14 year old – and fabulous they are."

Can anyone tell me if this book would be available now? I could not find it, probably by not searching German, from a web search (nb I do not use ggle_).

    Many thanks, davew

    Hi Dave,

I believe the volume is (the French Amazon link doesn't work - title taken from L'armée de Moreau en Allemagne: dessins exécutés en 1800 par Albrecht Adam âgé alors de 14 ans | Base patrimoine | Catalogue collectif de France (CCFr))
L'armée de Moreau en Allemagne: dessins exécutés en 1800 par Albrecht Adam âgé alors de 14 ans
I see Bertrand Malvaux had just the text volume for sale (now sold) - this was printed in Osnabruck 1985. L'ARMEE DE MOREAU EN ALLEMAGNE présentés par Peter Crucius

        Thanks to both gentlemen.
I've seen the 1812 series but not as I understand any of the 1800 at all.

Would someone kindly provide a link or example so as I can understand the type/ depth/ detail before I try to purchase.
It seems a rather secretive work given the vast amount of other materials available,
        thanks again,
        d

While some other pages at Books for Sale in Online Auctions - Catawiki may be dispalyed they are rather on the small size! (However the internal link doesn't display them...). Attached are the two other pages that would not show - unfortunately the quality is not good (due to the size of the originals) but will give you an idea of wht else the book contains:

Albrecht Adam also produced some excellent paintings for 1809 (admittedly a couple of each scene, with slight variations)!!! See pages from Albrecht Adam, Napoleon vor Regensburg I: zwei Gemälde

            Thanks Ian,
            very interesting look.

The sketches 'from life' look good- Polish soldiers no less! Just to ask the obvious I guess-
Are the 'colourised' versions also original, or a later adaptation of the sketches?

The connection with said 'Johann Nepomuk Graf von Froberg-Montjoye" could be interesting, with a vast history of family spread across Brabant/ France and Austria- yet nothing appears about the person himself.

The large Regensberg painting is interestig in that it exhibits, as many do, uniforms akin to the period painted (1840), not the epoch described [uhlans czapska, bicornes narrowed exc Napoleons etc.] The depiction of the Etat-Major is particularly nice I feel- a sombre Berthier, one of his ADCs, another Gendarme d'Ordonnance etc.

Looking through the web site I see there is an analysis of the divergent paintings; and https://christianvonholst.de/albrech...regensburg-vi/ gives a nice overview of the pair and meaning of some differences between the two. Apparently they consider the 'Hanover' version to be the first edition...

            Gracious thanks,

              Hi Dave,

Sorry I don't have the answer to the obvious question as the texts accompanying the coloured illustrations are not visible on line. I suspect your second comment may be the correct one but ......
